Hale & Verde Architects

RESIDENTIAL ARCHITECTURE · HOUSTON HEIGHTS

A concept study. Hale & Verde Architects is an invented Houston business, used to show how the work runs end to end — not a client engagement.

Concept homepage for Hale & Verde: a full-bleed plate of a clad house at dusk under the headline Houses that answer the street they sit on, above a three-up project index
PORTFOLIO ARCHITECTUREPROJECT TEMPLATEENQUIRY FLOW

A twelve-person studio whose best work lived in a 40MB PDF and whose website led with an About page.

The problem

A practice that sells care, presenting itself carelessly. Four problems, in the order they cost the most:

  1. 01The portfolio was a download, so the work never appeared in search and could never be sent as a link.
  2. 02Project pages showed six renders in a row with no account of the site, the constraint, or the decision.
  3. 03The enquiry form asked for a budget range in field two, before the visitor had seen a reason to answer it.
  4. 04Body copy set at 13px in light grey — a practice that sells care, reading as careless.

The approach

01

Read the work

I sorted every project by what it demonstrates rather than by date, so the index shows the practice's range in one screen instead of showing whatever happened to finish last.

02

A project template that argues

Site and constraint first, then the decision, then the photography — so the images land on a reader who already knows what they are looking at.

03

One image system

Full-bleed plates, a single crop language, a slow fade on entry, and captions that name the material and the room rather than the file.

04

An enquiry that earns its questions

What you are building, where, and when you want to start. Budget comes up on the call, once there is something to price.

05

Type that matches the practice

A display face for project titles, body at 17px on a 68-character measure, and contrast that passes on every surface the site uses.

What it produces

Described in what changes, not in invented statistics. Performance numbers belong to real named projects — when a client shares theirs, they will appear here with their permission.

The work leads

The project index is the second screen of the homepage, not a file to download.

Every project is findable

Each has its own URL, title and description, so it can be searched, shared and cited.

An enquiry that matches reality

The form asks what a practice is actually briefed on, in the order a client can answer it.

It reads as careful

Type, measure and contrast now agree with what the practice sells.

START THE SAME WAY

Every project starts with the audit
